My first hint I might be diabetic was in the Summer of 2017 when I was in a hotel in Trussville, Alabama. After checking in, I walked in my hotel room and removed my shoes and socks. I started walking around felt an unusual tingling in my toes. Tingling might not be a good word as it felt more like someone was poking pins and needles in my toes each time they touched the carpet. Once I put my socks and shoes on, I didn't feel the sharp pain. I was very confused.
It just so happened around the same time as the hotel experience, I had applied for a life insurance policy. Imagine my surprise when the agent said the blood test results indicate pre-diabetes and I should see my doctor about this.
